In Southern Africa, the urgent need for intersex rights and recognition cannot be overstated, as countless individuals continue to face discrimination, stigma, and invisibility within their own communities. These challenges not only hinder personal identities but also perpetuate systemic inequalities that leave intersex individuals vulnerable. By addressing key obstacles, such as pervasive lack of awareness and inadequate legal protections, we can pave the way for inclusive policies that empower intersex communities to thrive. Engaging in collective advocacy, sharing resources, and collaborating with regional human rights bodies are essential steps toward forging a more equal and just society for all intersex people in Southern Africa.
