Chola Mumba is a young Black intersex advocate and the current Regional Coordinator of the Southern African Intersex Forum (SAIF). With a strong commitment to advancing intersex human rights and inclusion across Southern Africa, Chola plays a critical role in building regional advocacy strategies and strengthening grassroots movements.
Chola also serves as the Community Liaison Officer at the Intersex Society of Zambia (ISSZ), a legally registered intersex-led organization founded in 2018. In this role, Chola facilitates meaningful community engagement, coordinates visibility campaigns, and supports efforts aimed at legal and policy reform to protect the rights of intersex persons in Zambia.
With a focus on intersectionality, inclusion, and capacity building, Chola has worked collaboratively with national and regional stakeholders, including civil society organizations, UN agencies, and government bodies, to advocate for the recognition and dignity of intersex people.
Chola is a member of the African Intersex Movement and is passionate about storytelling, community empowerment, and reshaping narratives around bodily autonomy and identity. They bring empathy, vision, and a deep sense of justice to their work.
